The Control of Substances (Hazardous to Health) Regulations 2002 and the Chemical (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations 2002 (CHIP) set out what employers must do in order to manage the risks associated with the use of hazardous substances. Employers must carry out a risk assessment taking into account the actual use of hazardous substances. By doing this they can specify the appropriate control measures including sources of ventilation and the provision of respiratory protection equipment.
