Since the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994 were introduced, many concerns have been raised regarding the complexity or bureaucratic approach that has been taken by many duty holders, thus frustrating the underlying health and safety obligations. The new simplified CDM Regulations and supporting Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) will be reviewed in this session, with a focus on treating health and safety considerations as an essential, normal part of project development, rather than as a bolt-on or extra task.
The appointment of the new CDM Coordinator will be discussed in detail, along with a review of the responsibilities of the Client, Designer and Principal Contractor.
Who this course is for
Anyone responsible as a client or contracted party for major building, maintenance or refurbishment work.
Benefits of CDM courses to your organisation
Compliance with CDM is compulsory for a significant number of construction, demolition and maintenance projects. Understanding the key aims of the CDM regulations will enable clients to more effectively plan and manage projects, identify and eliminate risks at the design and planning stage, target efforts in terms of health and safety and discourage unnecessary bureaucracy.
