Directing Safely is intended for people with strategic responsibility for determining and implementing effective health and safety management within an organisation. With health and safety the most important aspect of the day-to-day running of a company, it is essential thatimportant information is cascaded down from the top. As senior members of management are targeted if shortfalls occur, it is becoming more and more fundamental that health and safety is taken seriously from the top down.
The course topics will cover board accountability, benefits of managing safety, the cost of not managing safety, health and safety legislation and how to be an effective director on health and safety issues. Once you have successfully completed the course you will receive an IOSH Directing Safely Certificate.

The course will allow employers to understand the importance of strategic health and safety management and its integration into other business management systems, identify accident causes and plan for prevention through risk assessment and control strategies, appreciate the consequences of failing to manage health and safety effectively, understand the importance of employee selection and the effect of human factors on health and safety, recognise the importance of consultation and communication with employees on health and safety issues and appreciate the significance of performance monitoring for continual improvement of health and safety management.
