Hi,

Could I ask that you contact my colleague William Malcolm on 0141 249 5442 to discuss this question? William is a data protection specialist and is expecting your call.

Apologies for the delay in this response: I thought this message had been sent to you sooner, but it appears that it was not.

Kind regards,

John Salmon

Blossom,

the main points to remember are that the DP Act was established to protect the individual (data subject) from anyone misusing his/her personal info. If, as your questions seems to suggest, you have a contractual arrangement with your parent company, they need the data for the purposes of that contract, and that it isn't sent overseas where there are no DP laws in place, then there seems little to worry about?

The data is hardly sensitive in that it gives the recipient detailed personal items such as bank account details etc, and is hardly likely to be misused by your parent?

You may be trying to take the act further than its intended use perhaps?

Philip

Our parent company has asked for information regarding holiday entitlement for employees. They would like this information sent electronically. Will we be breaking the Data Protection Act by sending the information in this way? Please advise.
