Wha-hey Andrew - Cause and effect missing and for sure needs a little more back engineering in chain of causation as health stressors maybe different and one thing for sure we are all gonna die just a question of when and how not if.
Before any conclusions can be drawn about health and safety at work there needs to be some report of causes of death and then mechanisms linking those causes to work. The story presented here omits both steps and uses the HSE spokesperson statement as if all the pieces were present in the jigsaw. They are not. Perhaps the logical development was edited out?
Comparison of routine manual workers with workers who are in every way identical but don't do routine manual work would be more scientific. Comparison with managers is just a publicity stunt.
