You were thinking of Sue (Hi-de-hi) Pollard. Vicky is the pink tracksuit wearing chav from little Brittain.

Oooh, thought she was in Hi-de-hi and not sure what Little Britian is other than the only gay in the village ? whateveeer.
"Nithen" and nevertheless, with an ethically and morally bankrupt so called 'education' system that has tried to standardise delivery of a dumb down national curriculum solely in order to raise pass stats on the basic 'general cirt of secondary ed' they have lost or sacrificed the educational element in focusing on just training to pass the exam rather like the driving test excludes any skills not related to the test.
Sooo, when they end up with a 50/50 chance of passing and even that includes everything down to a 'C' grade and it is recognised that there are 7 Million functionally illiterate collateral damage out there like 1 in 5 or 20% of working population and if 5 million odd are DSE operatives 1 m must have some difficulties with digital literacy and another 1.5 m also manifest or experience a significant degree or reportable level of "Screen Fatigue" we have a serious "access to text" problem exacerbated by the increase in virtual communications in preferrence to conversation.........
Slanglish or sort of pigeon shorthand written English let alone spoken English has become the norm for the next generation and the only well spoken are those who have learnt english as a second language !

Nigel
After your last 2 posts, I feel like my head has been sandblasted from the inside! I don't know how you do it, you certainly seem to be "down with the kids". I expect we will all see you on Britain’s got Talent at some point performing in some urban street dance group or something. Perhaps I will need to take some lessons so that (entertaining as they are) I can actually translate your missives in to something that I can understand more than about 1 word in 4! Keep up the good work but spare a thought for those of us who are not fluent in teenager. And I'm surprised that you think Vicky Pollard of Little Britain fame has been forgotten.

Just very sad that not only is the dumbing down process working incredibubbly well but the missold who have bought into it as an alternative route to graduation and/or right of passage into adulthood, as they has been excluded from mainstream one, like don't even know whateveer they is missin except they do sort of know they has been seriously shortchanged and is missin somethin.
But who cares Durkhiem knew that we needed the underclasses and the criminals to make ourselves feel good and richious about ourselves the good and the true "God blessed haves" to pitty the poor 'havenots' and blame them for not getting off their fast-food and binge drinking fueled obese benefits sapping life styles to make something of themselves.....
Trick is to make they are functionally illiterate and cannot read fluently, just a little insurance, to make sure they ain't gonna rise to the top and with a little 'behavioural aparthied' they won'y even get off the bottom of the pond in the first place - cracked it and all their own fault for being a bit mardy and not learnin at school like.

Naa, i no noffin me about quoloquial sort of p'english text speak although i have noticed apart from loosing the H' ach in ampshire we has also lost the good old once familiar 'G' that used to belong to anyfink wiv an 'ing' on da end like....
A bit concerned about Gare as there are few that would remember Vicky Pollard although there is a girl that reminds me of 'Luton Airport' advert lass, names gone for the senior moment - just know it's not Tracy, on Big Brover at right now.
Didn't mind the introduction of very inclusive regional accents on tele but over time the Beeb seams to have lost the plot in terms of English not only falling into the use of tabloid headlines but, meaningless inconclusive reporting of trivia as part of it's dumbing-down process (Aah twas Lorraine Chase) as we speed toward the "hourglass" economy of haves and havenots by 2017. (HSE RR600)
I clearly do not have the knack and remain worried about my nose as, a dedicated follower of fashion, I now have to keep my hands in my pockets to stop my extra low-rider pants actually reaching my ankles .......... (don't s'pose it matters which side i dress anymore ? sorry prob's too much info - lol)
Nevertheless, the art of communication has gone to hell on a handcart and not gonna flog not no double negative dead horses no more for today.......
However, I shall continue with my campaign to raise the issues surrounding Screen Fatigue in order to reduce operator stress and improve access along with digital literacy where functional visual impairment limits potential performance and productivity by an average of 20% or 33 days per annum.

Articulate linguistics is not for the 'Blood on the Street'. They fink it is POSH innit?
Member - 392 posts
Thanks Robert, I thought it was just me that struggled to grasp what was being written in pseudo "Vicky Pollard speak". All the "init" and "U no wot I mean?" that seems to be more and more common (and making the English language sound like American ghetto dialogue) should be discouraged by anyone with an IQ above single figures before they start to teach it in the schools. I don't profess to be perfect, but I try to be eloquent where possible.

Nigel,
You may have a very good point but unless it is written in coherent English then unfortunately it is of no value. For some reason which I cannot fathom we seem to have reached a point where reading our missives before mailing is a lost art.

Regardless of specific case, the whole "trial" of whistleblowin in the firstplace because no one has got their ears-on penalty enough in trying to do the right thing ley alone nowin the costs of doin the right thing are gonna be seriously punitive anyway - what?
