If you call British Red Cross training they will be happy to tell you what course you should attend but as stated above, if you ware in an office environment than the new EFAW (1 day course) should be sufficient

Colin,
a lot depends on the type of work carried out and the number of employees at your workplace, which is where your risk assessment comes in. An office enviroment would not need the level of first aid cover a warehouse would.

There are major differences in what a FAW and EFAW qualifies someone to do and you need to be aware that even with a EFAW you can only treat someone if you have the training to do this. e.g. FAW would be trained to recognise and treat stroke, epilipsy, eye injuries etc EFAW would normally not cover these subjects.

There is comprehensive advice and Q&A on the HSE site that could help including an online assessment tool

Hope this helps
Paddy

Colin

A 'First Aider' is someone who has attended a 3 day First Aid at Work course within the last three years.

The new EFAW one day course may be sufficient if you only had a small number of employees in a business.

Go to HSE website and type in first aid in the search bar-this will take you to the required area of information.

Hope this helps.

Hello,
Is the one day emergency first aid course an adequate enough course for a nominated first aider. Is there any limit to the number of people this nominated first aider could cover
