The whole incident highlights the need to conduct a thorough fire risk assessment in all properties. The question that this poses, is, Would a fire risk assessment have prevented this fire from even starting? Of course we will never know the answer, but a thorough fire risk assessment should highlight potential hazards. Assuming that any action plans that are generated are implemented, then this can only assist in preventing such an incident happening to your organisation.
