Thanks for that. Tried to access your link Karl but for some reason it's not working. I thought that the maximum parental leave was 2 week per year..? And I agree with you that our policies should be reviewed but unfortunately policies are written at group level and it is up to us Officers to implement them! What I have done anyway is agree for my lady to take 3 months dependency leave and review at the end of that period.

Lauren
I would have a look at the DirectGov site regarding maternity leave/parental leave for a bit of info, gives a lot of info there regarding rights to parental leave - 4 weeks, it appears - following end of mat leave, etc. Worth a look at the different pages there.

I have an employee who requested an extra 3 months off (unpaid holiday) after her maternity leave as she's still breastfeeding. We do not 'do' unpaidf holiday. Our policy of time off for dependency leave tends to be limited to a week to deal with an emergency. I am quite happy to agree to her having this extra time off but not sure what I should call it or whether she would still accrue her holidays! I can arrange 2 weeks to be parental leave but I still have the other 10 weeks to deal with. Any idea anybody? Thanks
