It really is worth investing in an IOSH course for managing health and safety at work. I have just completed a NEBOSH NGSC course and with my years of experience has really been worthwhile.
This will give you all the knowledge you need to manage all aspect of hazard and accident reporting, monitoring, risk assessing, etc...
Check it out with the British Safety Council.

Dear Chris,

I too am not clear what you mean by "a category specific audit"? However, have you looked on the HSE Website or considered contacting the HSE Infoline for advice on this?

Regards,

Gavin Thomas

"a category specific hazard audit"--not sure what you mean by this. However would suggest that for a start look at relevant legislation and standards in ACOPs/Guidance etc. what type of trainng centre is it then? this will have a major impact on what you need to consider. Again your question strikes me as one requiring a degree of competence that you may not have yet aquired?

I have been asked to conduct a category specific hazard audit of my workplace (training centre) , specifying a range of appropriate categories, identifying hazards for each category and current workplace precautions and risk control systems. An initial assessment of risk to employees and others using an appropriate measure.

Can any one provide examples of best way of doing this please?????????????
