In practical terms, certainly the Domestic EPCs are similar to an MOT - only a reflection of where the property is at the time of the survey ie. an owner could remove all the energy saving light bulbs after the Assessor has left! BUT the principle is excellent if we use it as a tool to look at how we can be more energy efficient. With all the focus on reducing carbon emissions, just simple things like turning off lights if they aren't necesary, using energy saving bulbs, to making sure monitors are switched off overnight. This would save the company money too. Also make sure you are aware of the Air Conditioning Assessment legislation!

Are Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) worth anything in practical terms?
What is missing from them?
What could add value to them?
I shall welcome members views and opinions preferably with technically financially sound reasoning to support any points that are made.
