Na can't blame im for taking the money can't fight the system on your own the legal fees on their own will bankrupt most indivivduals time to accept moral victory and get your life back if at all possible after such a high profile case.
Sure it will carry on so long as the gap between professional and personal ideologies remains increasingly wide where talking the talk in public is not matched by walking the walk inside the workplace.
Tokenistic policies just do not prevent the friendly fire of omission to deal with poor interpersonal relationship and/or communication management will continue to result in significant collateral damage to UK human resources.
You have to wonder if it was just a huge publicity stunt! However I have to agree with Colin - by settling it means that if there was discrimination they are just going to carry on doing it and will not be brought to task over it. What sort of example does that set.
The next thing we will be reading the story that has been "sold" or was there a gagging clause in the settlement. Lets hope there is a leak first!
This is a bloody disgrace. Either there was discrimination or there wasn't. Settling out of court is more or less an admission of guilt by the Met. They should hang their heads in shame at not being able to defend this action. As should the officer concerned. Being undermined at your work is not necessarily racial discrimination. If racism is so deeply engrained in the organisation then how did he reach the rank of deputy commisioner in the first place. Being bought off serves no purpose to other officers who are or may be racially discriminated against in the future. Either work to resolve the problem or button it. Both parties are at fault and nothing has been gained from this debacle. This sort of conduct insenses me. RANT OVER.
