Was your slipping accident in a hotel or at home? All hotels owe the public a duty of care and therefore should ensure such slip mats are suitable and in good condition

The use of so called safety mats in baths can also be a problem. A few years ago I had a nasty fall when the slip mat moved as I climbed in the bath it was so old etc it no longer set up the seal.

So take care out there.

This is an intersting case as the implications are signifant for the hotel industry. Travelodge pleaded guilty after they failed to maintain slip resisitant brading in the bottom of the bath resulting in it presenting a slip risk when being used as a shower; this risk being realised when a guest slipped and suffered injury. There must be 100s, if not 1000s of similar accidents in the UK. I hope the hotel industry take note that customer safety is very important and carry out assessments of their bathrooms to ensure risks are reduced so far as reasonably practicable
