Nearly 26 years ago when my son was born, I had no paternity leave, I had to book a week of my holidays off if I wanted any time at home with my new born, 6 months seems a bit over the top to me.

Not exactly no warning or last minute allowing for gestation period and six months notice got significantly more than a years notice that father may take some maternaty leave soooo, must be money, money, money then ? Of course it's not ok for women to have time off so why should it be any different for men except perhaps more likely to come back maybe ? Or maybe if escaped for a period of homework & a bit of freedom wiv the kids would as many come back or would they like it and leave it up to the women to bring...
