One question I have on this subject that I havent seen or heard a definitive reponse to is this; Travel insurance : will this bill stop companies from being able to charge basically what they want to the over 70's or 75's ? I find it annoying that when I am booking a holiday for an older relative, 70+, that 'special conditions apply' and that the cover costs more than double than that of someone who could be only a few months younger (ie less than 70) Thanks in advance

...e role most closely? Might sound like a ridiculous question with a very obvious answer for most employers, considering the needs of their business during the recruitment process. It is, however, the kind of dilemma that employers could realistically face once the Equality Bill comes into force. The Government has stressed that, contrary to frequently published opinion, the new Bill will not permit employers to promote one candidate over another when they are "less suitable", but that it will allow employers to consider addressing underrepresentation should they `choose to'. This ambiguous position could...

And the principle of `fee for intervention' has already been agreed by the Government. The HSE recovers its costs in a range of industries under existing schemes and has considerable experience of making these systems work. For instance, the HSE already recovers its costs for intervention activity under an existing `permissioning' regime, which applies to major hazards activities. T...
