Biography

Bill Scholes (PG Cert. Mgt Dip. 2 OSH CMIOSH) is a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner. Bill comes from an electrical engineering background, having started his working life over 35 yeaars ago in the steel industry. His subsequent career path took him through a wide range of industries including railways, utilities, concrete pipe manufacturing, food production, white goods service and distribution, offices and contact centres. He has been professionally involved with health and safety for well over a decade, in that time holding senior management positions. Bill prides himself on taking a pragmatic approach to health and safety and considers that his varied work experience helps him to empathise with both consultancy clients, and with training delegates. As well as being a NEBOSH examiner at Certificate and Diploma level, he has been leading the Workplace Law NEBOSH General Certificate course for over four years now. He says "lots of people put a lot of work into passing the NEBOSH Certificate, so it's with keen anticipation that I look out for the results for each course. I really enjoy the challenge of getting to know each training group and trying to get the best out of them." Bill lives in the north-east of Scotland and outside of work describes himself as an avid if not "hopeless" golfer. He doesn't have a handicap but rather, he says " I set my targets low and consistently fail to achieve them; at least that way I'm not disappointed".
