Biography
Hilary advises on EU and UK Regulatory compliance issues for foods and specifically provides advice to US and Canadian manufacturers on the successful launch of products in the EU. This includes providing advice on composition, labelling, packaging, claims and advertising. She also advises clients on defending prosecutions for non-compliance issues and represents clients in Court. Hilary has extensive experience in obtaining pre-market approval for novel and genetically modified foods and advises UK, US, Canadian and Asian companies on compliance issues and obtaining the necessary pre-market approvals. She is recognised as an expert on GM foods and has authored a report for Monitor Law Press called Novel Foods: A Guide to the Law & Technology of GMOs in Europe. She has been invited on several occasions to address the Canadian Ministry of Agriculture and Ontario Ministry of Agriculture on this topic. Hilary is a committee member of the Food Law Group, a member of the European Food Law Association, a member of the Food & Drink Federation, and an associate member of the Institute of Food Science & Technology. She is recognised as a Leader in the Field by the Chambers 2000/2001 Directory and is regularly asked to contribute to programmes focusing on food issues for CNN and BSkyB.
