Biography
Stephen Harte is an Associate in MacRoberts' Technology, Media and Communications Group, working from the firm's Edinburgh office. Stephen has been working within the field of Intellectual Property, competition law and commercial contracts since 1995, advising a wide range of clients from Software Houses to Whisky Producers. He has experience of a broad scope of intellectual property matters such as software licensing, trademark management, patent disputes, passing-off claims and the control of commercial information. Stephen is particularly interested in the Internet, both from the legal and practical perspectives, and, in his spare time, is responsible for designing and managing the web site of a small charity. Stephen also advises clients on the application of Competition Law to commercial matters, both at United Kingdom and European level, and also on commercial agency, distribution and other on-going trading arrangements. Stephen participates in the activities of the Society for Computers and Law and the Scottish Lawyers European Group. Stephen trained in the Scottish Office and joined MacRoberts after two years with another major commercial law firm.
