By April 2008, public buildings of 1000m2 or more will have to have their Energy Performance Certificate on display. After that date it is likely the Department for Communities and Local Governments (DCLG) will phase in the same ruling for buildings under this threshold.
A system, very similar to the current grading system for fridges, will be implemented where a grade from A to G is applied, according to energy efficiency and carbon emissions.
