Producers who have failed to register with a Producer Compliance Scheme (PCS) under the new Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations can expect to receive a ‘wake up’ call from the Environment Agency.
Producers have been required to register with a PCS since 1 July 2007, but EA data suggests this is an optimistic view, and 4,500 unregistered companies are to be targeted directly by a telephone campaign.
