An 84-year-old man, who claimed to have been dismissed by his employer for being too old, has lost his case at the Employment Appeals Tribunal because he was dismissed a few months before the age discrimination regulations were implemented.
Bernard Lloyd-Briden was employed by Worthing College as a cleaner between September 1996 and January 2006. He was 73 years old when he commenced his employment, and 82 years old when he was dismissed.
