Employers are advised to monitor email gossiping in the workplace as there could be concerns that the information circulated could pose a legal, financial or regulatory risk. Viruses could also be set up in the company’s network.
The 2006 Department of Trade and Industry's biennial Information Security Breaches Survey revealed that 17% of UK businesses suffered staff misuse of web access and 11% had misuse of email.
