Despite the fact new age discrimination legislation has been in place since October 2006, new research has found that just 17% of small and medium businesses (SMEs) have made changes to their employment policies.
The research by Acas suggests that many businesses are putting themselves at serious risk of age discrimination problems.
The Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 came into force 1 October 2006. The main provisions of the legislation:
