The GMB union has welcomed moves by the European Commission to study the use of radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, because of concerns over the fact that they have been introduced in some workplaces in order to monitor employees.
The Commission has agreed to set up an RFID Stakeholders Group and to publish recommendations on how to handle data security and privacy.
Kathleen Walker-Shaw, the GMB's European officer, says:
