A new super union looks set to go ahead after workers in a ballot overwhelmingly backed the idea.
Members of Amicus and the Transport and General Workers Union voted by more than three to one to merge into the as yet un-named union.
This will form a two million-strong "super" trade union, the biggest in the UK, covering a range of industries and services such as transport, manufacturing, aviation, farming, the financial sector as well as public services.
