Disciplinary procedures: new rights come into force

From today, employees have the right to be accompanied to formal disciplinary hearings. Employers are not legally required to have formal disciplinary or grievance procedures in place, but where they exist, employees are now entitled to have a companion present. The new rights apply to all workers – including homeworkers and agency workers.
