Small businesses are being urged to get their staff to conserve energy and switch things off before they leave work for the Christmas break after new research has found that the energy used by equipment left on standby over the festive period is enough to roast 4.4 million turkeys.
The findings from Canon show that if office equipment throughout the country were switched off, rather than left on stand-by, for the ten-day Christmas period, 43.6m KwH of electricity could be saved.
