According to statistics released by the Health and Safety Commission (HSC) the number of enforcement notices issued, and prosecutions taken, by the HSE have decreased in the last two years.
According to the statistics in 2005/06 the HSE issued 6383 enforcement notices, 25% fewer than the year before. The number of offences in 2005/06 prosecuted by the HSE decreased by 23% to 1012 from 1320 in 2004/05.
