Figures released by the Disability Rights Commission (DRC), based on calls to their helpline, suggest that despite changes in the law protecting workers with cancer from discrimination at work, many employers are still acting unlawfully by dismissing staff rather than making adjustments that could keep them in work.
Since December 2005 the DRC says it has taken on average 2 calls a week from women with breast cancer complaining of unfair treatment at work.
