Food safety legislation that costs the food industry millions and places extra responsibilities on food manufacturers has not stopped food poisoning rates soaring in the UK, an expert has said.
Peter Berry Ottaway, an international liaison officer for the Institute for Food Science and Technology, has commented that safety tests for manufactured food have gone too far, requiring too many expensive tests for potential cancer-causing chemicals.
