Since the more onerous requirements for employers under the Fire Precautions (Workplace) (Amendmet) Regulations 1999, the use of fire detection systems as an essential aspect of fire safety has increased in a big way. As a result of this, facilities managers now have to deal with the growing problem of false alarms - to the extent that too many false alarm can mean the fire brigade may not respond to future calls.
