The UK food industry and retailers have been told they must cut down the amount of packaging on their products because too much of it ends up in landfill sites.
The Environment Agency’s annual Spotlight report names the food and drink sector as the second largest environmental offender, behind the fuel and power industry. The chemical industry was the most praised, with 42% of companies receiving an ‘excellent’ grade for environmental responsibility.
