An estimated 2.25 million people at risk from hearing damage within their workplace will receive protection under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 when they come into force 6 April 2006.
Noise in the workplace is currently covered by the Noise at Work Regulations 1989 though these will be replaced in 2006 when the European Physical Agents (Noise) Directive is transposed into the new UK regulations.
