The Government has praised industry for its efforts to tackle packaging waste, but warned that much more needed to be done if 2008 targets were to be met.
The Department for Environment, Food And Rural Affairs (DEFRA) warned that despite progress by businesses and local authorities in improving recycling rates for packaging, such waste has continued to rise by more than one million tonnes in the past seven years.
