Staffordshire Police force has been named the best employer for lesbian and gay people in the country, beating off competition from government bodies and leading names in the private sector.
The force was named as the top of Stonewall’s latest Workplace Equality Index, thanks to its pro-gay policies and increasingly high numbers of lesbian and gay officers, especially those in senior positions. One in 10 of the 2,309 police officers at Staffordshire Police are lesbian or gay.
