From 6 April the new Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 comes into force. The new regulations will dispense with fire certificates and move responsibility for fire safety squarely onto employers’ shoulders. Employers will now have to carry out their own risk assessments. It raises questions about how well employers will be able to carry out this additional responsibility. For example would you know if the fire doors in your building were up to scratch?
