On 7 February 2005, the Government announced a five year plan entailing an overhaul of the UK immigration system. This will impact on all aspects of the system currently used by employers.
The new scheme, to be introduced next spring, includes a five-tier point system for migrants, ranging from easy access and full residence rights for the most highly skilled and those with large sums to invest.
