New technology allowing the electronic ‘tagging’ of employees was criticised at the GMB congress in Newcastle upon Tyne this week. GMB claim that “the dehumanising of work via the use of new computer and satellite technology particularly in the wholesale distribution industry” is a major cause of high labour turnover.
