DIY chain and its contractors failed in joint responsibility

At Abergavenny Magistrates Court on 26 April 2005, B&Q plc admitted to breaching section 3 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 for failing on 16 April 2003 to ensure the safety of others not in its employment. In particular, failing to ensure the safety of its customers and employees working for its contractors Gutterkleen Ltd, which had been undertaking roof work on its store at Cwmbran on 16 April 2003.
