New building standards system for Scotland

A new building standards system will come into operation in Scotland on 1 May 2005.

All building warrant applications up to this date will be processed under the Building (Scotland) Act 1959. Warrant applications from 1 May 2005 must comply with the new building standards system.

The Scottish Building Standards Agency (SBSA) has been set up as an executive agency of the Scottish Executive to undertake the national functions related to the new building standards system.
