Stafford Tutorial College Ltd of Canterbury has been fined £4,000 and £1,757 costs at Canterbury Magistrates Court for breaches of health and safety legislation.
The prosecution followed an HSE investigation into an incident on 19 December 2003 on the college premises. Employee Alan Hollands, a 36-year-old maintenance operative, fell 2.6 metres through a hole that had been cut into the floor during repair work at the college and suffered a fracture to a single lower back vertebra.
