Changes to health and safety legislation are in future to be introduced alongside employment law changes on two 'common commencement dates' each year, the first of these being today, 6 April 2005.
The HSE has said that commencement dates of regulations arising from Europe are not within its control, but that it will also seek to align these where possible.
The following pieces of legislation take effect from today:
