On 18 March the Prime Minister announced the extension of
the existing local government rules, preventing the emergence
of two-tier workforces, to the wider public sector.
Coming hot on the heels of the start of the final period of
consultation on revisions to the Transfer of Undertakings
Regulations, the move has been hailed by the TUC and public
sector trade unions as honouring one of the key pledges
made by the Labour Party in last summer’s Warwick
