Following the announcement on Monday that working mothers are to be offered an extra three months' paid maternity leave under plans in a consultation published by Trade and Industry Secretary Patricia Hewitt MP, the CBI has said that proposals to extend family friendly rights could impose an enormous burden on small companies.
To overcome this the employers' organisation said the Government had to give more notice of return to work and take back administration of maternity pay.
