A 'root and branch' review to investigate the causes of persistent discrimination and inequality in British society has been announced. The Equalities Review will report to the Prime Minister by the summer of 2006, and will (among other things) consider the modernisation of equality legislation towards a single Act and the development of the Commission for Equality and Human Rights.
