Members may be aware that an Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) report on the plight of the UK's part-time workers' attracted a great deal of media attention yesterday.
The report - Part-time is no crime – so why the penalty? - claims that part-time work has a 'scarring' effect on earnings: the longer a person is in part-time work, the lower their wages are likely to be, even if they return to full-time work. Other statistics quoted in the report are as follows:
