New measures to tackle the intimidation of businesses by animal rights extremists were announced on 31 January by Trade and Industry Secretary Patricia Hewitt. The new measures would protect firms doing business with animal research facilities - such as courier companies, cleaning firms and property companies - from attacks by animal rights extremists.
