Construction firm Kennedy and Co (Contractors) Ltd has been fined £25,000 after a worker was crushed to death by a falling bale of steel mesh, reports Northern Ireland portal 4NI.co.uk. Self-employed crane driver Desmond Quigley was also fined £10,000.
Gerry McIvor was killed in the incident back in 2001, and a second worker was injured, when the mesh fell from a crane during a lifting operation on the building site for the Diamond Centre in Coleraine.
