Prudential and HFC Bank have both recently been the subject of much criticism and embarrassment for their failures in respect of their obligations under the Data Protection Act (DPA). Both have publicly apologised and HFC Bank has paid £130,000 in compensation to its customers by way of apology - although it may cost them a lot more in overall damage to their brand and reputation.
