The campaign to hold company directors to account for negligent health and safety practices got underway this week, with the first reading in Parliament of the Health and Safety (Directors' Duties) Bill on Wednesday 12 January.
The private member's bill is being reintroduced by Stephen Hepburn, Labour MP for Jarrow, and supported by the Transport and General Workers Union, Ucatt and the TUC.
Introducing the Bill to the Commons, Stephern Hepburn said:
